The Disneyland Adventure: Day 1

We flew down to LA/Anaheim Saturday morning. Carter was so stoked for his first airplane ride! And he did great. He was most excited for the taking off and being up in the clouds, but otherwise, he just played his game and ate the on-board snacks. Once we touched down in LA, we grabbed our shuttle (MUCH cheaper than trying a taxi) and headed to the hotel. I think online reviews are a necessary evil of traveling. You never know if they are right on, or seriously over-exaggerated. Fortunately, I made the right decision and we ended up at a great place within a short walk to the main gate of the park. Once we got everything into the room, we headed straight to the park.

Day 1 was spent at California Adventure. This is the "newer" park, and didn't exist when I went as a child. It was all new to me, and quite fun! The lines were crazy, but that's all part of the experience. As soon as we got in, there were numerous characters walking around. Carter grabbed his autograph book and headed straight for the lines. He was born for this!

Carter had a Minnie-affair....no joke! We literally had to pull him away from her. She kept kissing him. He kept kissing her. He has a huge crush on Minnie!

The first big ride we went on was Grizzly River Run. It was so much fun! Very much like floating a river in a raft with eight other people, and we got soaked!

Post-ride, soaking wet!

The next thing was sort of a nature excursion, where you had to do tasks at each station, and if you completed them all, you got a badge.

This tire swing thing was wild! I was nervous for Carter because the kick-back at the very end was pretty crazy and I didn't know if he would hold on tight enough. But he did!

He also did kid rock climbing.

We managed to catch the Disney Pixar Parade. Carter had a great time and got several hi-fives from the cast members.

We also went on Goofy's Sky School Rollercoaster. I took this picture because I'm not a roller coaster person. But here is proof that I went!

These were some sort of "bumper cars", but using air inflation. Very boring, actually.

We did find the REAL bumper cars though, and Carter had a blast!

We went on the Monster's Inc. ride as well, which was really cool. Carter loved seeing all of these characters "in real life". It was super dark in this ride, so the pictures aren't the best quality (I couldn't use flash).

We headed back to Cars Land because the main ride we wanted to do here was the Radiator Springs Racers.

These cars were awesome! I know it says the top speed is 35 MPH, but with the open top, night skies, and sharp turns, I swear it felt like we were hitting 70! They were soooo much fun and definitely worth the long wait.

I can't even tell you how excited Carter was to see Lightning McQueen!

We ended the night by seeing The World of Color. This is a show they do with the fountains and projection images. It was pretty breezy all day, so the show wasn't the best because the water was kind of all over the place, but it was still really neat. We sang along to every song.

We left the park at 11:00 and crashed the second our heads hit the pillows. Carter's poor little legs were so tired, but he was a trooper! Stay tuned for day two!
