Oops

This shot was a total mistake....and it's by no means a masterpiece.  I attempted another shoot with Kendall yesterday, but she just wasn't having it.  I'm not a huge fan of the headbands for babies. Sure, they are cute on other babies in other pictures. But they just aren't my preference. And the ones my MIL ordered for Kendall are still too big for her little head.  So this one kept slipping and the pictures were just a disaster. And this one was after I had given up altogether - she wasn't in the cute pose I put her in, the headband isn't on her head right, etc. But it's still cute!

The Girl is Loved

We have finally settled into a schedule with Kendall....well, I should say I figured one out based on our own day and some sleep schedules I researched.  Turns out the schedule I had her on was perfectly on par with 99% of the sleep schedules out there.  So I'm pretty proud of myself for that.  And now that we have a schedule down, the days and nights flow so much better.  She's only up once at night, which makes for a happy mom.

Here are some recent shots from our house:

Carter always wants to hold Kendall.  He's even been asking to feed her, but I'm putting that off for a little longer.

He's also decided to teach her everything she needs to know - which pretty much revolves around dinosaurs.  Shocking!  She was hanging out in her bouncer the other night, and he was showing her pictures from his dinosaur encyclopedia and telling her about each dinosaur.  It was so cute!
And he never turns down the chance to play with her.  Even though his toys are far more fun, he still likes playing with her baby toys.
And all of this makes HER one happy baby as well!  This was taken this morning.....she's starting to flash her smile more and more.  Melts my heart!

Lindsey & Damon {Engagement}

Earlier this week, I met up with this couple to shoot their engagement pictures.  Their wedding is later this year.  They chose one of the spots I shoot at regularly, and when we arrived, the river had totally flooded out the place! Panic! We managed to improvise, using the same location, and had a great shoot.  Here are some samples:

Coming Soon

I shot this couple's engagement session earlier this week.  I'm trying to edit their pics before I shoot another wedding this Sunday.  Eek!  Look for more of their engagement pics soon!

Teresa & Dave {Wedding}

I shot this couple's engagement session a while back and this last weekend was their big day!  It was a small, intimate wedding, which was perfect for me since I'm still on maternity leave.  Here are some shots from their day:

Join the Club

Last week I decided it was time to get Kendall on board with the rest of us, so I got her this:

(phone pic)

Her first Red Sox shirt.....which will fit her later this summer/fall.  Love it!

My Most Handsome Fella

While Carter was outside taking his own pictures recently, I took my camera out and snapped a couple quick shots of my little guy.  I think he's most handsome!

Project 2011: Through His Eyes, Part 20

Here are last week's pictures by Sir Carter:

We have been outside a lot with the nicer weather - his only restriction:  don't take pictures of dog poop.  ;)

We usually don't put any fencing around our garden; however, the dog has proven that she won't stay out otherwise. So this year, some fencing went up.

Cheeks

Carter has many nicknames......they all make sense to me.  However, he doesn't fully grasp the concept of nicknames yet.  When I call him "buddy" he tells me "Buddy is a dog at Grandma Dort's house".  So I try to explain that it's just a nickname I use for him, along with the countless others.  And other times, he will say "my name isn't honey, it's Carter".....clearly I'm aware of this.  ;)  But that boy just needs to tell you your business!

Kendall is now a month old, and the first nickname for her that came out of my mouth recently was "Cheeks" because she's certainly gaining a good amount of weight!  I thought this picture perfectly displayed her cute (not-so-little) cheeks.

It's That Time, Again

Wedding season is upon us once again.  And for photographers, that means the BUSY season.  My busy season started yesterday (a tad delayed this year due to Ms. Kendall's arrival).  I shot Teresa and Dave's engagement pictures a while back, and yesterday was their big day.  It was the second wedding for them both, so it was very low key, and intimate.  Just the kind of ceremony I needed to get myself back into the groove of shooting weddings.  (I think even my doctor would approve, since I'm still weeks away from being released for all activities.)  Stay tuned for the usual sharing of the wedding photos in a few days!  In the meantime, here's one little sneak......SOOTC.  Editing will have to wait - I have a softball tourney to go watch today!

Movie Review: No Strings Attached

This was a great romantic comedy.  I absolutely love Ashton Kutcher.  Love him.  And Natalie Portman is such a great little actress.  I laughed out loud so many times during this movie.  And sure, it's your typical, totally predictable romantic comedy.....but it was still a good movie!

Just Hanging Around

This week has been pretty relaxed for us.  We're all still trying to figure out how to live with this new baby in our lives.  Kendall is 4 weeks old today!  Things are starting to come together.  I actually ventured out with both kids the other day to run a bunch of errands.  And we survived!  The other evening was actually the first day I didn't feel sore at all, so we took a great walk (Carter on his bike, Kendall in her stroller).  It felt good to get even that small amount of exercise!

Here are some random pictures from this week.....just us, hanging around the house.

Clone

Yes, we have created another blonde haired, blue eyed child.  Who looks virtually the same as her brother when he was a baby.  Her mouth is a little different.  And I do see more of myself in her than I ever saw in Carter.  We attempted a mini shoot today.  I actually had both kids ready to go, but Carter was not having it and Kendall was hungry.  So this was after she ate, and since Carter was still grumpy, he sat this one out.

But here is Kendall....full belly and happy.

She probably just pooped.

Or, there's this version, if you prefer the B&W

Project 2011: Through His Eyes, Part 19

We didn't have the camera out a whole lot this last week....and it got left in the car when we were at the zoo. :(  So we are quite limited on pictures for this part.  We'll do better this week!

On the way to the zoo, we realized we were all starving.  To spare time, we made a stop at the rarely-visited McDonalds.  Ew.  But it was quick and cheap.  And let's not forget:  they have toys.  Carter had zero interest in food....all he wanted to do was get to the zoo.  So the toys that came with his meal were used as bribes.  Yes.  Show me a parent who doesn't do that.  Hee hee.  So the toys were featured a lot in the pictures from last week....seriously.  Like, 12 more pictures that I won't subject you to.

However, the kitchen ceiling looks nice, right?  Eric replaced all of the light bulbs for more energy-efficient ones and apparently this was a monumental occasion that Carter needed to document.
Oy - this picture makes my eyes water.  A VERY close-up of his own eye.
And the toys again....this time during Kendall's bath.
 And the girl, herself....all clean.
