The Lasts - 2022 Edition

Well, this week was a big week of "lasts" in this household. Both kids had their last day at their respective schools. Carter is moving on to high school and Kendall is moving on to middle school. So crazy to have these big milestones. They both did very well in school this year, both academically and with their athletics. I am a proud mama!

First Day of School!

Uh, summer? Where did you go? Somehow we are at the beginning of another school year.....the last year for both kids in their respective schools. 8th grade for Carter and 5th grade for Kendall. Hopefully this school year has a lot less interruption than last year.

First Day of School - COVID version

To say the beginning of this school year has been a hot mess would be a gross understatement. I'm not sure WTF the school district/administration has been doing all summer, but this was somehow the "best" they could come up with for our kids. While we have worked through the technological bugs, this "part time" learning (seriously) is NOT what I would call the full education to which our kids are entitled. However, we are doing the best we can, and supplementing the missing learning in other ways.

Wrapping Up Another School Year

Another school year has come to a close. Carter officially ended his elementary school career, and Kendall wrapped up a great 2nd grade year.  I was able to help out at their field day, which is always a lot of fun. It was pretty much the only good weather day in a 3-week span of monsoon-like conditions here in the valley.

Last day of school pictures, of course!

The 5th grade ceremony was really nice - they had five really great songs to perform, followed by some awards, cake, 5th grade BBQ, etc.

Academically, it was a great year for both kids. Carter is still testing several grade levels ahead, so I'm excited to see how he does in middle school!
