Hitched!

Back at the beginning of January, Matt and I did something totally spontaneous and totally against every "planner" bone in my body and eloped! We thought about a place special to us and the kids, and decided on a beachy spot near the river in the mountains. We spent some hot days up there last summer with the kids, and decided it was perfect for what we wanted for our day......though snowy this time! We had a friend get ordained to perform the ceremony, and the kids were way excited to be involved. It was just what we wanted, and I'm glad we were able to make it happen!

Then we waited and waited, and WAITED, for the jeweler to get my ring sized and back to us. Weeks later, it finally arrived. I'm totally in love with it.  Yay for love!

McCall Winter Carnival

We had a blast up at the McCall Winter Carnival this weekend! Some friends invited us up to stay at their family cabin, and we jumped all over that opportunity. The cabin was situated between Cascade and McCall, so it was nice to be away from the massive amount of people. We got to town right as the fireworks started, so we stopped to watch those, and then spent the rest of the evening around the huge fire, dancing to live music.

Saturday, we decided to watch some of the sled bike races and then hit the tubing hill for a couple hours of fun.

As we were cruising back through town to hit the store for dinner, we noticed so many deer in people's yards.

Gorgeous mountain sunsets are my favorite!

Saturday night was a lot of fun, just visiting/catching up, and playing some drinking games. Made Sunday's wake-up a little bit slower than usual, but definitely worth it. Any weekend in the fresh mountain air is a good weekend!

Kendall Lost Her First Tooth!

Kendall's bottom two front teeth have been loose for quite some time now. She's been working on them diligently, but totally went to town yesterday between the time she left the house for school and the time she got back home. In fact, by that time, the tooth was basically just dangling there. But she wouldn't let anyone touch it. Carter even tried to pay her off with his own money just to let me pull it out for her. Nope. Had to do it on her own. And she did - right in the middle of dinner!

The Family Room Remodel

This project took quite a bit longer than the other projects in the house, mainly because of the holidays and my surgery. But we finally finished it - except for the new TV/accessories that will arrive in a couple weeks. Otherwise, the room is now totally functional.

I didn't get a complete before picture, but the accent wall the former owners had done was this ugly maroon color. WHY they picked that color is beyond me. There were also 5 poorly installed can lights up in the ceiling that I wanted to get rid of, so we pulled those out, patched the holes, re-textured as much as we possibly could on the ceiling AND walls, and repainted the entire room.  Still saving up for the carpet adventure, so that'll be the last update throughout the entire house.

Once the ceiling painted, my dad was able to put in the new fan I got for the room, and I added two new floor lamps for additional lighting. With that old maroon wall, the room really felt like a dungeon because it was so dark. The lighter paint really changed up the feel of the room.

I wanted to try a textured paint for my accent wall, so I got a brushed suede from Lowe's. I have to say, it didn't turn out like I thought it would. Though I do like the color, I don't get any textured "look" when I stare at the wall. I could have saved myself two hours of doing countless X's to get that texture and just rolled the stupid paint on. ;) Lesson learned with this one.

Can't wait to get the new carpet and trim in to really finish out the look of the room!

Again, thanks mom and dad for all of your help!

The Annual Sledding Adventure!

New Year's Day is now known as sledding day in our family. This formally started last year, and continued to this year. What a blast! Kendall really didn't want anything to do with sledding last year, but that sure changed this year and she dominated the hill!
