Dream Mile / First Grade BBQ

Yesterday was such a fun day for Carter. He was the only first grader in his school to qualify to run the dream mile. It was so fun to watch all of the first graders cheer him on! I'm so proud of him!

After the running was over, I volunteered to help with the first grade end-of-year BBQ. It was really fun to see some of their camping day activities, including a tent in their classroom. We grilled up some hot dogs and the kids really had a fun time. I'm so glad I have the opportunity to help out with stuff like this. Monday is field day, which is one of my favorite school events! I can't wait to see what this year has in store.

Kendall was there to cheer on her big brother.

She also had a big week - she got to go on her first fishing trip with Eric and caught her own first fish!

Baby A {newborn}

I love when clients return to me and say "we had a baby!" Not only do they get a discount for returning to me, but I am pretty much lined up with shoots for the next few years of that kiddo's life. Score all around!

A Quiet Weekend

Since we have a big trip coming up, we are reserving resources. Usually Memorial Day Weekend is a traveling weekend for us, but we opted to stay home instead. I took Friday off from work, and we were quite busy around the house and around town. The super regionals for NCAA softball were on, and I think I managed to watch most of every game.  We also managed to play quite hard all weekend - both at home and at Kleiner.  This resulted in some epic naps from the kids.

One of the afternoons when I was laying out on the patio, enjoying the sun, I noted this on one of my flower pots:

Quite fitting considering that's where I'm headed! I have done a ridiculous amount of research and planning to finalize the itinerary. I still have more to do, but the progress really makes me feel like this is going to be an amazing experience.

I took the kids to Kleiner Saturday evening. They swore they weren't going to go in the fountain, and for a little while, I believed them. But I knew those squeals of delight from all of the other kids playing in the water would be too much to handle. And I was right. The kids eventually ditched their shoes and were soaking wet in a manner of seconds. It's hard to tell in this picture, but Kendall is drenched!

After they got dried off:

I had my 50mm on all weekend, with the intention of getting far more pictures, but there was just too much going on. I finally made the strawberry cake Kendall wanted for her birthday. Oops!

Carter found this acorn while he was playing in the neighborhood park.

Lots of EXCITING stuff happening this summer!

Collette {newborn}

Long-time friend of mine, Brandie, asked me to do some newborn shots of her second daughter. Baby Collette wasn't enjoying her pictures very much, so we brought in big sister, Leighton, to have some fun.

More Baseball

I've been doing a lot of videos the past couple of games, so I brought the big camera with me for tonight's game. However, tonight's game turned into a scrimmage due to some scheduling issues and the other team not even showing up. Not sure what happened, but the kids needed a practice anyway.
