Well, since my last post about spring being here, we had some crazy weather....which I think included some snow. However, in the last week or so, it has really begun to feel like spring. And this is evidenced by the blooms around my house. One of the trees in our front yard has exploded with pink. I think every house in our subdivision has at least one of these trees.....meaning our neighborhood is a sickening shade of pink right now. (Remember, I'm not a huge fan of pink. Especially overkill pink. And our neighborhood falls under the "overkill" status right now.) However, if I only look at my yard, it's not so bad. Here are some signs of spring around the front and back yards.

Amanda {boudoir}
I also had a boudoir shoot last weekend. I've never done a shoot like that before, and it was definitely a learning experience. They are not my favorite shoots, that's for sure. Don't get me wrong - it was still fun, and we had a hoot. I just prefer outdoor shoots.....and this one lasted a long time, and I was unable to get into some positions to get better shots (a 9 month pregnant belly is quite limiting). However, the client was thrilled with the finished product, and while I'm not going to share the usual 5-10 I would normally share from other shoots, I do feel this one is appropriate to put out there.

Jaci & Mike {Engagement}
Last week, I had the opportunity to shoot this lovely couple's engagement pictures. Their wedding is coming up this August, which I will also be shooting. They are a hilarious couple and we joked and laughed the entire shoot. We also walked the entire Ann Morrison Park, which really put me in bad shape later that evening. Doing shoots at 9 months pregnant isn't exactly ideal, nor was my doctor thrilled to hear of it. Here are some samples from their shoot:

Pregnancy Tracker: 38 weeks
*sigh*
One more week. One more week.
ONE MORE WEEK??!!!! That's it?
I have hit panic mode. Everything in the house is ready to go for the baby. The hospital bags are packed. We have a tentative plan of action for Carter. But the part that is now freaking me out (because I've moved beyond being scared of the surgeries) is the part where we come home. I suddenly have this fear that I won't remember what to do with a newborn. How often are those feedings? What does this cry mean? How do I develop a sleeping schedule like we did with Carter? When do they get their first bath? And on and on and on. All of these things wake me up in the middle of the night and I spend hours obsessing over them. Usually between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5-something a.m. Which isn't the most ideal block of time to be thinking of this stuff. I should be sleeping while I can, before the baby arrives and throws off the sleep patterns of everyone else in the house. But no. These fears are haunting me. And I know it'll all come back to me and we'll be just fine. Logically, I get that. I just can't seem to quash the fears.
Physically, I'm actually feeling okay this week. No rib pain. The back pain comes and goes....though when it's here, it's beyond excruciating. Right this moment, I don't even feel pregnant. Until I look at my swollen feet. Ew.
I have a plan with this baby. I know, shocking. Jenn has a plan? With lists? But I also know that babies don't follow plans. I got my hair done last night - new cut, new color. I am working next Monday and Tuesday, and that's it. Wednesday is MY day. I plan to get a mani/pedi because if I'm going to be laid up in a hospital bed for days, my toes WILL be cute. But then I think, "what if the baby decides to come early?" "What if my water breaks" AT WORK?!!! How awful would that be. And how awful would it be to NOT get my pedicure?! I know, I know....priorities. A newborn, chubby baby is way better than a pedicure....but MY plan involves a pedicure first, then a baby the following day. I just hope the baby understands the plan. ;)
My check-up this week went well. My blood pressure is up and my doctor told me to figure out how to de-stress as much as I can. Easier said than done, doc. The fact that I had just knocked out two photoshoots didn't help, and he was sure to tell me to back off and rest as much as I can. So, no photoshoots this weekend. Cross my heart. My couch and I will become good friends again, this I assure you.
Enough rambling.
Here's what babycenter.com says about the pregnancy at 38 weeks:
Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long. She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Project 2011: Through His Eyes, Part 14
Here are last week's pictures, courtesy of Carter:
(This was after a brutal photoshoot on Thursday - after a long day's work, and a photoshoot that ran longer than expected, all I wanted was my bed. And Eric was talking to the baby....so Carter captured the moment)
So then I turned the camera around on him! He was in a much better mood than his mama!
I'm not even sure what this show was - it was on a day Eric was watching him.
More of mama resting......this time after Saturday's photoshoot!

Baby #2's Room - A Tour
So we finally finished up the baby's room this weekend. Really, it was all put together, but we needed to get the wall decor arranged and hung on the walls. Seems simple enough....and this might be why it was put off for so long. So, without further delay, here is a photo tour of the baby's room.
The crib:
I actually let Eric pick out the bedding.....at first, I really didn't like it. But the more I was in the room, the more it grew on me. I'm okay with it now. ;)
I like that it's not overwhelmingly pink. I'm not a fan of pink.
This is the crib sheet - I think it's totally adorable:
These four prints are hanging over the crib. They were given to me by my aunt - she still had all of her girls' room decor from when they were babies. So decorating this room really didn't cost us much at all! My kind of style!
These two pieces are also by the crib, and are actually from the entire bedroom set where we got the crib bedding. So they are a perfect match and oh so cute.
My mom is currently working on re-doing the padding for the rocking chair. The former padding was what she made for Carter....which was blue.
The color and pattern she is using is extremely similar to this: (from the crib bedding)
The area rug is also from my aunt.....I believe she said everything was from pottery barn (a place from which I only dream of shopping).
The colors matched the other colors in the room quite nicely, so we decided to go ahead and use it.
These four prints and the lamp are also from my aunt.
And this little guy was actually made by me a couple years ago at a crafting night at my mother-in-law's house. It's actually supposed to be a Valentine's Day decoration, but the colors match the room and I think it's super cute. So we hung it up and I'm pleased with it.
So that's the room. Other than a happy, chubby baby, the house is 100% ready to go. Just barely over a week now!
