I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a wedding this last weekend.....at a little white church in the mountains of Idaho City (which is about 45 minutes north(ish) of Boise). This couple was extremely laid back (no bridezilla here!!), which made my job quite enjoyable. Add to that the fresh, mountain air and we've got a winner of a photoshoot!! Here are some samples.

Weekend Recap
This weekend was a very busy weekend for us. I dropped Carter off with my parents Friday evening. I had a wedding to shoot bright and early up in Idaho City Saturday morning and Eric was still in Oregon working. Sounds like Carter had fun with Papa and Grandma, and I got a free night to myself.....which doesn't happen very often.
The wedding was a fantastic success. It was a small, intimate ceremony (which was also a full-blown Catholic ceremony) in a little white church in the mountains of Idaho City. Couldn't really ask for a better setting than the great Idaho outdoors!
The drive there and back were just amazing. It was a little cool outside, but I opened up the moonroof and blared some good music. It was the most peaceful couples of hours I have had in a long time. A lot of things were put into perspective that drive, and I feel more confident about where I'm at in life and the recent decisions I have made. I will have more wedding pictures later this week when I finish the editing process.
Saturday evening, Eric made it home from Oregon. It's been four months since his accident.....which is still just surreal to me that he survived. I remain grateful that he is in my life and that my son has his daddy. So after two quick pictures, the camera was put away and we spent quality time together.....just the three of us. We played, we laughed until our stomachs hurt, we conquered potty-training, we watched parts of a couple of movies, we took a nap together, we were a family. With Eric being gone so much for work for the foreseeable future, our time together will be a matter of quality over quantity.
We also managed to run a lot of errands. When you only have a day and a half together, you cram in as much as you possibly can. We made our last payment on our patio furniture, so we went to pick up our new stuff.....and the assembly began. What a process!! There was more bubble wrap and shrink wrap (I was actually wrapped in shrink wrap - head to toe....as a prank by an ex and his brother - the stuff is NOT easy to handle!) than necessary, so most of our time was spent cutting our furniture out of the wrap. But eventually, we managed to get it all assembled and set up on the patio. This isn't where it will stay as we still need to get rid of the picnic table. But for now, the set looks just fine where it is. And that was our weekend. Eric will head back to Oregon and I'll have another week of single parenting with my little guy. Hope you all had a great weekend too!!

Making a Mess.....an Artistic Mess
Today, I felt like doing something creative with Carter after work. So we stopped and got him lots of new shirts for spring and summer, and then a couple movies at Hastings because they had a great sale going on, and then we hit up the dreaded Wal-Mart (it was closest, trust me) to buy our supplies.
I think most moms cringe when they see paints because you just never know where that paint is going to land.....or if it's TRULY washable.
So I let Carter pick out his preferred brush. There were two other ones in the running as well, but blue and green are always his favorites.
And he set off to work!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy
So towards the end of dinner tonight, I left Carter to finish his food while I put a load of laundry in the washer. When I came back, he was done so I put him down and forgot to wash his face. So my dirty-faced child went running by me and I said "child, come here."
Why is your pocket wet? He, of course, didn't know....or didn't care to offer up some explainin' So I took his shirt off and thought of the possibilities of what exactly could be in that pocket.....and whether or not I wanted to touch it. I do have a boy child afterall - the possibilities are endless, and gross.
So I peeked into the pocket and there was green stuff. Not good. This can't end well. And I didn't have the patience to take a decent picture of the inside of the pocket, so pardon the above picture.
So I finally got brave and dumped the contents of the pocket into my hand. What was in there?

The celery from his dinner that he apparently doesn't like! The little turd!! And while it is funny, it's not something I care to have happen on a regular basis. So this is where he stands right now:

A Busy Weekend, Indeed
I took some time off of work at the end of last week and the beginning of this week to spend with Eric and Carter. Eric is back to work and left last night for Oregon for a month. So we spent virtually all of our time outside this weekend, enjoying the gorgeous spring weather. For most of the adventures, I left the camera at home so I could be more involved with the fun....and I have to say, I did enjoy it!
Carter decided he wanted to help Eric mow the lawn.....what a hoot that was! Eric tried to warn him that it was hard work, but Carter insisted.
He wanted to push the mower all by himself (trust me, it's not ON). He pushed and pushed, and that mower moved about 3 inches. And if this isn't the perfect picture of a juicy orange, I'm not sure what is!!
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend as well!!

{Wedding} Becky & Donovan
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting another wedding. Another simple one actually - just post ceremony and some reception shots. Here is a little sample of my favorites.

{Engagement} Samantha & Jed
I took this couple out Friday after work to do their engagement pictures. She was very excited....he wanted nothing to do with the camera. But he was definitely open to suggestion and direction, so that definitely made it a little easier for us girls. Here are a few samples the shoot.
(yes, their faces are supposed to be blurry.....the ring is the focus)

Happy Easter!
We decided to go all out with Carter this year for Easter. He was quite excited to decorate his eggs....with all the colors and stickers, he was in hog heaven! My little artist had such a fun time. Since it was pretty chilly yesterday, we decided to decorate the eggs inside....which required covering the kitchen table with lots of newspaper so the dye didn't.....well, dye my table.
We got all of our colors ready.....we got lots!
For the first couple of eggs, we showed him the proper way to "dunk" them.
And then he got to do his own....he preferred to just drop them in.
Admiring his work.
And really, I wouldn't be a true fan if I didn't have THIS egg:
And then first thing this morning, we hid all the eggs for Carter to find. He had so much fun....he would scream the second he saw an egg and then take off in a dead run to go get it.
