Halloween Recap

Last week, we picked out four pumpkins (one for each of us, and the baby) and got to carving.  I kept my distance....we all know I can't stand the smell of pumpkin guts.  So I let the boys figure out what faces to carve this year.

And let me tell ya, there was no shortage of goofing off - example:
So this is what we ended up with this year......a scary one.
 a vampire
another scary one with super sharp teeth (per Carter's request)
and a happy one (for the baby - gotta get in those happy baby vibes whenever you can)
When the big day arrived, Carter was thrilled to finally wear his Spiderman costume.  We tried it on a couple times before, just to make sure it was going to fit ok.....but he wasn't too keen on the idea of putting it away until the big day arrived.  And we dug out the candy basket to complete to costume.

Showing off his big Spiderman muscles!
And then we set out for the day - visiting family first.
And then we made the trip around the subdivision.  Mr. Chatterbox had to stand there and have a conversation with every person who opened their door...telling them about his costume, the big spider he was afraid of, how we have four pumpkins, how they have big stairs, etc. Anything at all - in fact, by the end of the night, I almost cringed when people would ask him if he was having fun. Who knows what story was going to take place at any given door!

And our neighborhood had two "haunted" houses that really scared Carter - I didn't take my camera along, so I didn't get to capture any of the houses.  But one in particular that really got to him had the fog machines going, crazy lighting, spooky music and sounds coming from outdoor speakers, and massive spiders hanging from webs all over.  And for Spiderman himself to be spooked by the spiders, you know they were pretty big.  I was certain he was going to have nightmares because he wouldn't step one foot on the driveway.  When Eric picked him up to carry him to the door, Carter started screaming bloody murder until we decided we better just skip the house altogether for this year.

All in all, it was a fantastic night - the weather was perfect.  It had rained earlier in the day, but by the time we hit the streets, it was still fairly warm outside.

Hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween, too!
