Weekend Recap - Where Did It Go???

I blinked and miss this weekend - so much for those relaxing, not one thing on the to-do list weekends like we've had for the last three or four. This weekend was jammed full of errands and fun, and I think I need another day off just to recoup!

Matt and I kicked off the weekend a little early by hitting The Book of Mormon. What.a.SHOW! I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard, or felt so "at home" with all of the inappropriateness. It is definitely not a show for those who don't possess thick skin, a sense of humor, or the desire to have a good time. It was by far the best show I have seen in a long time - thanks again, Mom and Dad!

During winter months, I try to cram in the indoor sports so no one goes stir-crazy, and for the kids to burn off energy. Kendall is currently doing gymnastics and more swimming lessons. While she does her lessons, Carter hangs at the basketball court and plays 3-on-3 games. It works out nicely!

And since it's apparently spring in January/February, we are taking full advantage and hitting the fields early and often. We turned Saturday into a skills afternoon for Carter, just working at 75-80% and hitting all of the typical drills. It was a gorgeous afternoon!

Sunday was really meant to be another outside day, but we got cut short by the wind and rain, which just gave us more time to prep all of our Superbowl food!

We had a really low-key Superbowl this year, which worked out well since Kendall decided to come down with a nasty cough, which had her looking like this by half-time.

I had promised the kids we would have a dance party to Justin Timberlake's show, but it turned into just quietly singing along as Kendall was lying along my back, sawing logs. Poor kiddo needed some serious rest!

A Lazy Weekend - What's That?!

I actually had a somewhat lazy weekend this weekend. And it felt so good! I had a family shoot Friday night and then another Saturday morning, but once I knocked those out of the way, it was smooth sailing. Except for the fact that I think I'm allergic to naps. I tried both days and failed miserably. I guess I need to retrain my body to embrace those naps!

Friday at work, I convinced them to turn on one of the TVs to the playoffs. Seriously - we have like 8 massive TVs and they had quite a few going during the World Cup. It's only fair that we extend the same courtesy to the baseball lovers, right? So once I got home from work, I turned the TV on for more baseball and convinced the kids that we needed to play in the living room. I mean really, mom doesn't have time to play outside when the playoffs are on. ;) Fortunately, they were on board.

Saturday, after my shoot, we had to get in some time outside. I can only lock them inside for so long. ;)  And to be honest, I have no problem letting Carter play out front alone. I can see him when he's playing, and we live on a very quiet (cul-de-sac) street with little traffic. However, I'm not comfortable letting Kendall just run free out front without me there. So I sat out front while they played for a little while.

Sunday was the laziest day, for sure. After breakfast, I built a massive fort and that pretty much kept them occupied for hours. They brought in 8,000 toys, pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, etc. You can bet NO ONE wanted to clean up that mess. Funny how that works! ;)

They also had an epic pillow fight on my bed, which turned into a tickle fest. Goofy kids!

An Afternoon in the Sun

Friday, work closed down early so I grabbed the kids and we headed out to Eagle Island. Kendall wanted NOTHING to do with the water. When Eric took her in, she screamed the entire time. She's been in a strange phase lately - something I hope she pulls out of soon. She sat on the beach with me virtually the entire time, hardly taking a step off of her towel. Not sure what has gotten into her lately. Carter had a blast! He had several kids he was splashing around with, and he giggled the entire time. He was bummed to leave, but Kendall's whining cut the trip a little short.
