Annual Sledding Adventure

Tubing train - near miss!

New Year's Day is always a good day in our family, because it means sledding! We all get up early and head to the mountains to get "our" spot, which is typically vacant until noon or so when everyone else starts rolling in. There definitely wasn't as much snow as we are used to seeing, but we made it work and everyone had a great time!

Idaho X Sports Tubing

This weekend, we ventured up into the snow again with Jason and Brittney for more tubing. We decided to try the Idaho X Sports runs at Garden Valley. Let me tell you.....this course lives up to its name. Definitely more extreme than Bogus or McCall. I have numerous bruises on my arms, legs, and back. I also shattered a pair of sunglasses and damn near sprained my ankle. But oh my god, what a great time, despite the downpour of rain. We will absolutely do this course again!

Brittney and I both managed to get videos on our second run. The bottom of the run is wildly bumpy and if you don't stop, you end up down in the blue bumper of death. I ended up there twice, the first time being at the end of this video. Very thankful I held on to my phone!  (note: I drop the f-bomb in this video, so if you are at work and in an open area, might want to turn down the volume.)

McCall Winter Carnival

We had a blast up at the McCall Winter Carnival this weekend! Some friends invited us up to stay at their family cabin, and we jumped all over that opportunity. The cabin was situated between Cascade and McCall, so it was nice to be away from the massive amount of people. We got to town right as the fireworks started, so we stopped to watch those, and then spent the rest of the evening around the huge fire, dancing to live music.

Saturday, we decided to watch some of the sled bike races and then hit the tubing hill for a couple hours of fun.

As we were cruising back through town to hit the store for dinner, we noticed so many deer in people's yards.

Gorgeous mountain sunsets are my favorite!

Saturday night was a lot of fun, just visiting/catching up, and playing some drinking games. Made Sunday's wake-up a little bit slower than usual, but definitely worth it. Any weekend in the fresh mountain air is a good weekend!

An Evening in the Snow

Saturday was our friend, Nicole's birthday. Her choice? Tubing up at Bogun Basin (the ski resort 16 miles straight up the mountain from Boise). Neither Nicole nor I had ever been to Bogus before, so this was going to be an adventure!!
We caught up to some pretty cool fog and a great sunset. (Please note, I didn't bring the "good" camera because I was scared of crashing in the snow and breaking it. So the little Kodak came along as backup!)
Up at the mountain!
Awwwww......why does he still look so tan?! It's freakin' January!!
I still don't know how Rob managed this shot by just holding his arm out. I thought for sure he was going to cut me out and I insisted that we set the timer. But HE insisted that he knew what he was doing. I guess he knew what he was doing. I love this picture!

I'm ready to go!!

So is Nicole!
Waiting in line at the bottom of the tubing hill. It was fantastic!! Such a rush - I definitely want to go again and it's safe enough that I would take Carter.

The men.
Afterwards, we went out to a bar to celebrate Nicole's birthday. It was a great night!
