The 4th!

 The kids and I decided to head to a Boise Hawks game to celebrate the 4th. They have completely re-vamped their fireworks show, and it was so awesome! Nothing is more "American" than baseball and fireworks!

Memorial Day Weekend - Concussion Style

Leading into Memorial Day Weekend, I took quite the blow to the head in the form of a softball. So the actual long weekend itself was the best busy/lazy weekend we have had in a long time due to my needing to get some serious R&R. For those who know me, I have a hard time NOT being busy, unless there is a river and camp spot in the scenario, so there were many reminders from my family all weekend to "take it easy". So we did that. Sort of. ;)  

 

Hawks Baseball & Independence Day

This *HOT* weather sure has come on in full force this week! After a grueling June at work, I took some extra days off around the 4th to have some down time and get caught up on some stuff at home. We also enjoyed a Boise Hawks game, even though they blew the lead and ended up losing. The post-game fireworks were awesome!

We bumped into one of Carter's teammates and his family at the game, which included Chloe! Chloe and Kendall quickly became the best of buds during summer baseball. They hung out quite a bit of the game.

The kids also got to get a picture with Humphrey before we left the stadium.

We got up early the morning of the 4th, grabbed some donuts, dropped Matt's car off at the fireworks-watchin' spot to keep it "reserved", and then headed downtown to watch the parade. This parade is always a blast because of the massive water fight between all of the firetrucks. Definitely keeps us cooled off right when that noon heat starts to hit.

The spot we picked to watch fireworks proved to be great - quite the view! And it was nice to watch a different show than our normal one.

Family Visit - Pt 2

Saturday was another busy day. I did some cleaning and baking at home before heading back over to my parents' house for more fun. I dragged Dana into an adventure of acquiring a gun.....a girl needs one, ya know. ;) It was a fun little adventure. We then picked up my dad and Carter and headed off to a Boise Hawks game! There is nothing better than live baseball! (even if the Hawks suck this year)

 

 

Seriously, LOOK at Carter's face. He had been bugging me since the minute we stepped into the stadium for some food, toys, etc. I just wanted to enjoy some baseball! So when I took this picture, he clearly wasn't very happy with me. Cracks me up!

Carter cheered up considerably after I put some food in his belly.

 

 

 

After the game was over, the let all the kids run the bases and then had a great fireworks display. There was an explosion at the end, which I'm not entirely sure was planned, but it was awesome. I got it on video, and then the video disappeared.

 

 

Definitely a fun night with my favorite guys!!

Carter's First Hawks Game

Last night, we took Carter to his first ever Boise Hawks game. What a night for him! There wasn't a huge crowd since it was a Sunday night, so Carter was approached by event staff and asked if he wanted to race Humphrey the Hawk during one of the mid-inning promotions. Carter and racing go hand-in-hand. It was a no-brainer.

 

 

We really had a great time at the game. It sprinkled a couple times, but nothing bad enough to make us leave the game.

 

 

We had typical ballgame food and cheered hard for the Hawks. They ended up losing the game, but it didn't matter to Carter - he had the time of his life. Here is the video of him racing Humphrey:

After his race, he got a baseball from one of the players in the dugout and a free ticket to another game. Score! He was one tuckered out kiddo by the time I got him home.
