Clinic Baseball & Softball

Meridian Youth Baseball & Softball put on a 6-week clinic and I was proud to be included as an instructor. It was a ton of work, but also a ton of fun. We had four groups (about 50 kids total) with a great mix of baseball and softball. All of the instructors collaborated well and had a great time with this clinic. Several kiddos told us it was the best camp they had ever been to - always nice to hear that! While we were crazy busy, I did manage to snag a few pictures here and there.

This dude has also been in the cages, gearing up for assessments this weekend.

My Happy Place

How do I find a way to get paid what my regular job pays me, including the benies, etc., to just teach girls softball all day, every day?

Taking any and all suggestions......

Our New House

Just kidding!

It seems like we have been living at Play Deep for a couple months now, between Carter's private hitting sessions, training with the girls, and my own pitching and hitting sessions with other girls from the valley. It's been a lot of work, but all three of the kiddos absolutely love being there!

Work

Christmas break doesn't mean much of a "break" for my kids. Free access to the cages for hitting, pitching, and fielding means we are there virtually every day they are with me.

No rest for the wicked.

It's the Most Wonderful Time.......

Softball time, of course!

The softball side of Play Deep has certainly taken off as we have continued to get the word out.  Our hitting clinic over the weekend was a success with ten girls over the course of three sessions. And those one-hour sessions sure do fly by when we are trying to cram everything in! We totally spaced getting any pictures, but plan to do continuing clinics, so we will make sure to document those as they happen.

We also had our pitching clinic, which was a lot smaller and definitely more complex than the hitting side of things.

I also have several girls signed up for one-on-one pitching lessons, so things are definitely picking up and it's the best part of my day when I leave "normal" work and head to the cages!

Baseball & Softball Year-Round.....Oh My!

Baseball and softball have just taken a (collectively) huge step up in our family. It's always been an active part of our life, mostly during the spring/summer/fall months, but now it's going to be a year-round thing, and we are large and in charge!

The first big step was my joining the executive board at Meridian Youth Baseball & Softball (MYB). I decided to go big (in lieu of going home) and am now the President of Softball for MYB. I have two incredible directors on my team, and have already made a huge amount of progress in being the voice for softball. I am super excited to take on this role and be an advocate for the softball community within the league.

The second part of this step was affiliating myself with Play Deep Academy. Several coaches in the league put together this facility for the kids, and one of the other MYB Board members approached me to see if I would take on a softball instructor role. I jumped all over that and have basically been living at Play Deep for the last month. We are putting together workshops and clinics (baseball and softball), and already have several teams renting out the cages for their winter workouts. Score!

This joint venture into the baseball and softball world is something I'm incredibly passionate about, and I am so excited to see big changes in the league, especially on the softball side!
