An Afternoon in the Sun

Friday, work closed down early so I grabbed the kids and we headed out to Eagle Island. Kendall wanted NOTHING to do with the water. When Eric took her in, she screamed the entire time. She's been in a strange phase lately - something I hope she pulls out of soon. She sat on the beach with me virtually the entire time, hardly taking a step off of her towel. Not sure what has gotten into her lately. Carter had a blast! He had several kids he was splashing around with, and he giggled the entire time. He was bummed to leave, but Kendall's whining cut the trip a little short.

The Holiday Recap

What a busy weekend!!  We were going non-stop the entire holiday weekend, and what a great time we had!  We decided to have our annual 4th of July BBQ on Sunday - we had lots of friends and family over.  Everyone brought great food and we had a bunch of laughs.  Carter got to play with his buddy, Daysen the entire time, and Kendall was Ms. Smiley and Ms. Snoozer.  Here are some pictures from our BBQ.

After the BBQ, we broke out the fireworks. Carter and Daysen had such a fun time - it's so fun to watch the excitement in their faces as they watch the bigger fireworks, and do some of the smaller ones on their own.

On the 4th, we decided to head to Eagle Island - we did this a couple years ago after the 4th, and had a great time.  It was definitely packed with people also enjoying the gorgeous weather.  The water was so refreshing!  Carter made lots of friends who wanted to take rides on the floating alligator.  It's always a big hit!
And we built big sand castles...
 And got in water fights....

Even a great battle with another kid!  It was highly entertaining!

Last night, we didn't really plan on going anywhere to watch any of the big displays around town, but some of our friends were planning on watching the display put on at Meridian Speedway.  So we packed up the kids and met our friends there.  It was a fantastic show!  I didn't pack my tripod with me, so I made due with a makeshift one and did the best I could.

All in all, it was a fantastic weekend......though I'm glad I have today off to wind down a little bit!  ;)

A Day at the Beach

We decided that we needed to get out of the house today. We had been out all weekend, and didn't want to spend our Sunday inside. So we thought of cheap places to go. It was either Lucky Peak or Eagle Island. Since we live closer to Eagle Island, we took off on our adventure.
And so did several thousand other people. It was PACKED! We decided to just hit the beach - we weren't interested in the water slide today.
We did some boating last year, so I knew Carter was fine with beaches......but he's older now, so I just set him down and let him explore on his own.

Fortunately, the beach at Eagle Island has a relaly gentle slope, so he was able to walk out quite far on his own.
Up to his arm pits, anyway!
And then we decided to stick him in his little floater. He loved that. He was able to peeter around, checking out the babes on the sly.

And in the middle of all our fun was a freak rain storm. It poured!! It was crazy! It definitely fired up all the people - it was fun to watch everyone cheering at the rain.

But once the clouds passed over, we were right back in the water.

How cute is this child!!!???

This is what summer is allll about. I'm sure we will come back several more times throughout the summer. We just had a blast!

I'm so glad my child is a water baby - makes my life soooo much easier! There were several kids there who were being dragged against their will in to swim with their parents. I felt so bad!!

Chillin' on his own.

Rolling in the shallow water.
Having a laugh with Daddy.

Gotta love my guys!
