It's a New School Year!

A first grader and a fourth grader......seriously?? They were both so ready for class today.....I dropped Kendall off first, and then told Carter to have a great day and headed to my car, but he grabbed my hand and said "no, walk me to my classroom mom!" I figured this would be the year he didn't want me to walk him to class......so glad I was wrong!

So Long, First Grade!

Yesterday marked the last day of first grade for Carter. Where does the time go?!! First grade was a really good school year for Carter. He is above his grade level in every subject, and his IRI test scores are virtually double the class average. I'm so proud of his continued progress and success with school. The whole school got to do a picnic lunch yesterday, which made Carter super excited. Last night, however, after all the busy of the day wore off and we got ready for bed, Carter had quite the meltdown. Not just crying....we're talking bawling, sobbing, couldn't catch his breath because he was going to miss his teacher THAT much. It was the sweetest thing. We had a good talk about his teacher and I explained that she had been teaching at his school for quite a long time and would still be there next year for him to visit. That seemed to make him feel a little better, but dang he was sure traumatized there for a while!

And now we're on to second grade - holy cow!!

Dream Mile / First Grade BBQ

Yesterday was such a fun day for Carter. He was the only first grader in his school to qualify to run the dream mile. It was so fun to watch all of the first graders cheer him on! I'm so proud of him!

After the running was over, I volunteered to help with the first grade end-of-year BBQ. It was really fun to see some of their camping day activities, including a tent in their classroom. We grilled up some hot dogs and the kids really had a fun time. I'm so glad I have the opportunity to help out with stuff like this. Monday is field day, which is one of my favorite school events! I can't wait to see what this year has in store.

Kendall was there to cheer on her big brother.

She also had a big week - she got to go on her first fishing trip with Eric and caught her own first fish!

A Thanksgiving Celebration

Friday morning, Eric and I spent several hours with Carter's class doing crafts, listening to their Thanksgiving poem, playing during recess, and enjoying a holiday feast. It was really fun interacting with the kids!

A Macee sighting!  ;)

All of the boys wanted Eric to play 500 with them during the recess. The energy these kids have is incredible!

First day of FIRST GRADE!

Monday was Carter's first day of first grade. When did this happen?! We went in last week to get his teacher's name and to take his supplies to class. When we walked in, Macee was there. THE Macee. I thought Carter was going to pass out. And not only is she in his class, they sit right by each other.

Oh my god, mom!

Settle down, son.  ;)
