Happy 4th

I think with the current state of this country and "leadership", Mother Nature provided the appropriate weather for the 4th of July this year. Stormy and rainy. It truly wouldn't have broken my heart to have all of the fireworks cancelled this year - America, you just don't deserve a birthday, do think about what you have done!  ;)  We were going to head up to Banks to swim in the river again, but it was just too chilly. We put that off for another (warmer) day, Carter and I took the dogs on a walk in between the rain showers, and then we chilled at home until it was time for fireworks.  

Summer = BBQ + Slip n' slide + corn hole

There really isn't a better afternoon/early evening than one that consists of good food, drinks, kids laughing and playing on a slip n' slide, and a mean game of corn hole going on. Oh, and good music. Sounds like perfection to me!

Annual Sledding Adventure

Well, this year's annual New Year's Day sledding adventure was postponed TWICE due to lack of snow. We knew we'd get that Idaho winter, but it was just a matter of time. So 19 days later, we finally got the snow we needed. As usual, the day did not lack for entertainment. The first "adventure" was pulling into the parking area to find my dad's truck stuck in the snow. Once we dug and pushed the truck out, the sledding began.

 

One of the great moments came when my father came barreling down the mountain, face first, and hit a small jump. Instead of using the tube to cushion his landing, he used his face as a pole to catapult his body end-over-end. I had seven videos of the day, and that was the one moment I decided to snap a picture instead of video. Take my word, it was a majestic show of human body acrobatic talent. I'm sure he'd love to reenact the moment! The picture right above this paragraph captures the moment leading up to the grand event.

And of course the day would not be complete without a complete train wreck!
