First Day of School!

I'm a day late, but that's okay. Yesterday was a BIG day!

We actually had a meet and greet with both kids' teachers last Friday, which went really well. Both teachers are new to their school, and seem like really nice ladies. Big improvement from last year - needless to say, I was less than impressed with Carter's 2nd grade teacher. So we got their supplies dropped off, had a great chat with both teachers, and let both kids explore their new classrooms. So fun!

And yesterday was the big day......Carter is definitely the seasoned pro, wanted nothing to do with pictures, and immediately ran off the second he saw his friends at school. But I did get a few hugs, so at least there's that! ;)

And Kendall.....ohhhhh Kendall. My baby! Such a big moment for her, and in talking to both her teacher at school at the counselor at the Y, she ROCKED her first day! She told me all about it at home, and I'm so glad she had fun because this mama's stomach was in a knot all day yesterday worrying about her.

And here they are, 2nd day!

Carter's Kindergarten Graduation

Well, today was the big day! Kindergarten graduation for Carter!!  I've had so many moms warn me to bring boxes of Kleenex for this, but to be honest, I didn't shed one tear. I was so proud of Carter and all of the achievements he has made this year, I was just a damn happy mom today!

The two morning kindergarten classes had a little program, which included three songs (on my video camera and I don't feel like importing) and then the presentation of their little "diplomas" to each student. The two teachers gave really nice talks about the kids, and then had a cupcake reception afterwards.  It was pretty much the cutest thing I have ever seen!

Congratulations, Carter! Your advancement this year really impressed me. You are so smart and I see so much of myself in you. I'm so proud of the little guy you are. We had some bumps during the school year, but I think that's pretty typical with little boys. I can't wait to see what FIRST GRADE holds for you!

Yay Carter!

Carter recently went through some IRI testing at school. For kindergarten, this is very basic testing. One of the main components was reading, and he more than doubled the requirement for the test. I'm so proud of him. He also reached all of his goals for his reading log. The kid just LOVES to read, and will go through one of his story books to anyone who will sit and listen to him. This is one proud mama.

Carter Goes to Kindergarten!

Dear Carter -

I can't believe you are off to kindergarten. Time sure flies, little guy. I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. It seems unreal that you are starting school. You are so ready for it, so smart, so funny, and ready to tackle this big world. I know you are going to be a nerd like me and excel in school. I was so excited to get home from work to hear all about your big day. I think I was more excited than you! I'm so proud of you for doing so well and embracing this big transition. I love you more than anything, little man. Go get 'em!
