This year, we decided that Carter was old enough to make a loop around some of the streets in our subdivision. We made all the family stops earlier in the day, so our evening was free to do our own trick or treating and hand out candy. Carter had a really good time....though all of our practicing of "trick or treat" and "thank you" didn't exactly pay off because he didn't speak ONE word the entire time. I think he was confused as to why we were going to so many houses and not staying to visit! One lady answered her door holding a little lap dog, and Carter bypassed the basket of candy and went straight to petting the dog. It was too funny! I see where his priorities are now....not bad! We decided it was time to come home to hand out candy when Carter's pumpkin was full of candy. Overall, it was a really fun night! Behold, my handsome fisherman!

Pumpkin Carving
Compared to last year, where we mostly did all the work ourselves while Carter showed zero interest and fell asleep, Carter was the big helper this year. It's no secret that I can't stand the smell of pumpkin guts. It makes me gag. So Carter's offer to help this year was definitely welcomed on my part! I just stood back and watched while the cleaning was done, and then I stepped in to carve.
Since we didn't have the best of luck last year with the store-bought stencils, we opted to just free-hand it this year.

{Briana}
Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a trash-the-dress client. For those who aren't familiar with the concept, you basically take your wedding dress (after you are married, of course) and wear it around to places you would never DARE wear your dress....an old barn, a field, downtown in the city, or even in the water. It's a newer rage in the brides and has become quite popular. Thanks, Briana!

A Sunday Outing: Corn Maze/Pumpkin Patch
We had gorgeous weather this last weekend, so I decided it was time for a little day trip. We called up my brother and his girlfriend, and we all went out to one of the corn maze/pumpkin patches. We had a great time admiring all of the (new and old) tractors. Carter was certainly excited to point them all out.
We decided not to attempt any of the big mazes, but we did let Carter make his way through the kiddie one that was made out of hay bales.
And then we took a hay ride throughout the farm. This house was on the property......I'm sure all of the proceeds of the farm and corn maze activities are supporting these people....as you can tell from their modest house.
One of the views along our hay ride.
Fall is definitely in the air, as I have been saying lately. I can't believe Halloween is next weekend! How exciting!!

Project Shutter Speed
So yesterday, I had two projects to accomplish. Fortunately, I was able to knock them both out at the same location. One is for my grandmother for Christmas, so I will be posting it at a later date. The second one was to adjust my shutter speed to capture some pretty, moving water. The first picture, below, is on auto setting. See how the water is chunky? I wanted to achieve a smooth water look.
So I adjusted the shutter speed clear back to 0"3 (which might have been a little too much), and the water looks smooth.

These were taken in the Quail Ridge Subdivision in Boise.

Fall is in the air!
Fall seems to have finally hit here in the Treasure Valley. The temps have been chilly in the mornings....frost is everywhere to be seen. The hoodies are out, the sandals have been put away (boo!), and the morning stops to Starbucks for a hot caramel apple spice are becoming more frequent.

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to work we go!
Yesterday, we went with my parents to the mountains to chop a bunch of wood for this winter. Our new house has a fantastic fireplace and I'm quite excited to curl up to some toasty fires this winter.......and save on the gas bill! So we left Carter with his Grammy Michelle, and we set off for some hard work.
There was a huge tree already down, that my parents had already taken three full truck-loads from. So we went back to the same tree, and it was still there. So we helped ourselves!

Who's Busy?
Uhhh.....holy crap, life has gotten so busy in the past month or so!! I started a new job in September, and while it wasn't all my life's dreams are made of, it's definitely better than the day I started. And *gasp* I may even like it! Still doing paralegal work....just in a completely different area of law than I have ever done, or thought I would do. But it's insanely busy and my days (usually) FLY by. The people there are simply hilarious and we have a good time all day long. And did I mention a time or two on Twitter that they have lots of goodies? Talk about a good way to THIS girl's heart!!
Anyway, there really is no rhyme or reason to this post. And there are no pictures.....I know, I have failed you. It just doesn't seem right to do a post without a picture!
I'm having some girls over tonight to scrap. I have already taken the rum out of the freezer....seriously. There is no child at my house tonight, I deserve to drink. And first thing tomorrow morning....like seriously, FIRST thing, we are driving up with my parents to the mountain to chop some trees for firewood this winter. I LOVE having a fireplace!! So you can bet I will be sooooore Sunday.
And I will be more blonde tomorrow evening......'cause my mama and I are doin' my hair while we watch the BSU game. (seriously - the southern accent thing just kicked in) And BSU is going to win and we will move up even higher in the rankings.....even though #5 in the NATION is pretty damn good.
So that's it - the end of my rambling post. I'll try to take pictures this weekend so I have something more interesting to blog about. Stick with me!!

Happy October!
Happy October, and happy fall!
It's officially fall here in Boise. It's 32 degrees as I type this. The wind was howling yesterday and the chill was in the air. I went to the dollar store to stock up on fall/Halloween decorations for the house (and my desk at work). I'm definitely in the decorating mood this year! Here's hoping to big piles of leaves this year to jump into!
