So this year, my parents celebrate 35 years of wedded bliss. Granted, it probably wasn't ALL bliss, but making it 35 years in this day and age is quite the accomplishment. I made a comment in my toast about how celebs and the ever-evolving generations don't seem to put as much stock into marriage anymore. So to celebrate this occasion, I started planning this party long ago. It was tough work, let me tell you! We certainly didn't have a million people there, but I still had things to plan, such as location, food, drinks, entertainment, etc. And for the most part, it was quite a fun process! I'm glad we got our friends and family together for a big celebration. Here are some shots throughout the night....until the rum took over and I put the camera away. =)
Dana and Veronica made the drive down to be part of the celebration.
I asked my cousin, Matt's girlfriend, Lori, to be in charge of the dessert table. Dessert is Lori's thang. ;) That girl can cook and bake like nobody I know. And she never ceases to amaze me!
I have to say, the weather was pretty perfect that day. It was hot setting everything up, but once people started showing up and I could relax a bit in the shade, it wasn't all that bad!
My dear friend, Shoshauna even made it! I don't see this girl often enough and I think this year is a good year to change that. Last time I saw her was my wedding, I believe. Time to get more involved with her. I miss her like crazy.
We also played corn hole until well after dark. I love that game!
I had Eric get us a cake from The Cheesecake Factory - it was amazing. And the sparkler candles were awesome, too!
I have a little toast.
As did my dad.
As did my brother.
It was an awesome night. I'm proud of my parents, and I'm so glad we had such great people there to celebrate with us!
Happy Anniversary, mom and dad! I love you!
