I need to get better about posting these happenings in real-time!
We had a very busy holiday season. Due to missing Addie for all of Christmas last year (she was in Mexico), we packed ALLLLLL the things into this year to make up for it. First up was a visit to Santa. Had to get the big guy all squared away on the wish lists before we could do anything else!
Two years ago, MYBS participated in the Meridian Holiday Parade. It was so much fun! We missed it last year due to the parade being cancelled (thanks, Covid!), but it was game on again this year! We had so much fun as a group putting together the float! It was a COLD, foggy night, but we had so much fun handing out candy and flyers.
We also managed to cram in one updated family picture - Carter got his braces off mid-November, so we needed one that had him SANS braces!
One of the things Addie missed out on last year was ice skating. And trust me, she reminded us often that we didn't take her.....to which we responded "DUDE, YOU WERE IN MEXICO!" But we made reservations again this year and the kids had a great time. We even ran into Mary, Kendall's BFF from fall softball!
Kendall's last year of elementary school sure has been a fun one. Once again, due to Covid, they hardly had any classroom celebrations last school year. But apparently the motto of all of the 5th grade teachers is "GO BIG" for the students as they prep them for middle school (not crying over here). Spirit week is one of Kendall's favorite things! Below is her "ugly" Christmas sweater.
They also opened the Christmas party up for parent helpers again. I have sure missed this! I love it, Kendall loves it. It was a fun day helping in her classroom!
We dropped Carter off one evening so he could watch the new Spiderman movie with one of his buddies, so we spent some time strolling through The Village. It's so pretty!
We got our tree quite early this year due to the rumors of a tree "shortage". (There was no shortage - we saw lots full up until Christmas Day.) We decorated, and Kendall and I did a TON of Christmas baking!
We also packed into the car and spent an evening driving around to look at all of the amazing Christmas lights in Boise. Christmas lights are one of my favorite things, so this was the best night for me.
We had a marathon of Christmas this year, that's for sure. We ended up doing our Christmas at home on Wednesday evening, the Cafferty Christmas party Thursday evening, Christmas Eve at my parents' house, and Christmas Day at my aunt Brenda's house. It was A LOT packed into a few days, but so great to spend all that time with family.
Every Christmas morning, Matt and I head off to find some snow. Even though we had plenty in the valley, we still wanted to hit the mountains. Granite Creek was the place this year. It was so beautiful.
And this may be my favorite picture I took all year:
