Last night, we had to get creative for dinner. We were running low on food, and money wasn't coming in until today. So we decided to do homemade chicken nuggets and fries. (the fries were not homemade) Anyway, so we made the breading for the nuggets and then popped them into the oven. While those were baking, we made our homemade fry sauce (which is hands-down the BEST fry sauce I have ever had and no you can't have the recipe), and also brought out the BBQ sauce and honey mustard. We sat the child at the table, and he had the same dinner as us (as usual), but he also had bananas. He sat silent for quite a while, observing us dipping our dinner in various dipping sauces. Well, he decided he would like to try the same. So we let him dip his fries and nuggets in all the sauces, giving him a variety of tastes. Soon, he grabbed a banana and held it up as he did with the fries or nuggets, letting us know he was ready to dip! I laughed and told him that he wouldn't like the banana dipped in ANY of those sauces....but he held his hand there, insisting that I let him dip. So I did. He dipped that banana right into the BBQ sauce and munched it down with no second thought. It was so funny! Granted, I didn't attempt his clever combination....but I was more than happy to let him discover his tastes on his own.

Your Assistance, PLEASE!!
So.....three of us gals in the office are in charge of putting on .... SOMETHING .... for our office. Basically what happened was, my boss had three spare flat panel monitors and we wanted them. He charged us $35 for them. After we took them home, he sent out an e-mail to us three instructing that we are to take the $35 we would have given him, and do something for the firm. So, with the three of us, we have $105 total and we have NO CLUE what to do. We thought about catering in a nice lunch, but we are outdoors people and we thought it would be fun to do something outdoors. We thought about doing some sort of easter egg hunt, but we don't have enough time and certain people wouldn't want to participate. So we have thought about doing some sort of afternoon BBQ on a Saturday and open the invitation to family also. And I sort of like that idea.
But I was wanting to know if anyone has done something like this for their work and had a good idea for me.
ANY ideas and/or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!!

A Great Night
Last night was a fantastic night for our little family. I really hope it's a sign of the fun summer I hope to have.
As soon as I got home, we grabbed Carter and took him to the neighborhood park.
There were lots of kids there....including some potty-mouthed kids. Who we attempted to set straight. It didn't work. I believe their last words were "you aren't my effing dad". Wonderful kids, really.
But we had our fun anyway.

After we got done playing on all the toys, we walked over to the pond to scope out the ducks. (next time we will take bread because they are super friendly.....unlike the potty-mouthed boys) It's clearly mating season or something because the males and females, who have clearly chosen their mates, would not leave each other sides.
And got really protective if you got too close to their woman.
After we had fun watching all the ducks, we went home to play in the yard. We are really working hard to get this yard looking presentable. The grass is quite patchy right now, so we over-seeded it with new grass seed. Hopefully in a month or so, we will have a nice yard.
THE News!!!!!
So.........as I posted on my Twitter yesterday, I have news. BIG news. And for those who sent me messages, NO, I am not pregnant. Not (financially) ready to go there again.
For those who know me, my best friend in the whole wide world lives in California. And it sucks. We talk every day. EVERY day. By phone. By text. By e-mail. Our days are incomplete if we don't speak to each other.
Anyway, her husband went off to Basic Training a while ago and graduated (yay!) and is now off at AIT. He graduates from that sometime in May. They were hoping he would be stationed somewhere along the west coast so they could stay close to home. Recently, it sounded like he would either get Fort Lewis, WA or Cuba. Yes, CUBA. I could not have handled Cuba. And it's all about me, right?
Anyway, they got their orders yesterday that they will be stationed in Fort Lewis, WA. As in WASHINGTON that is right next to my great state. Wahoooo!!! This means far more visits than what we are currently used to. And I'm slightly stoked. This means my best friend, my bestest friend, my PERSON (ode to Grey's Anatomy) will be a mere hour's flight away, or an 8-hour drive. Oh yes, my friends, this.is.GOOD. And a flight from Boise to Seattle? Chump change....super cheap....no problemo. And road trips through Oregon and Washington? GORGEOUS!!
Ask me how excited I am. Seriously!! They have to report by June 22nd and I am already plannin' the trips in my head, lol!!
