The Braces Adventure - 5 months post-op

So I know the video says 6 months, but it's really only five months. I miscalculated.

Here are some key components of the progress thus far:

*  Expander is out. YAY!  It was incredibly painful to have it taken out. Seriously felt like she was going to pull my molars.

*  Gaps are gone. Obviously the main gap, but then there were two smaller gaps on each side from all the movement.

*  Still fairly tender on the front teeth, depending on the day.

*  Still pretty protective when it comes to eating, especially on the days following tightening/wire changes.  This last time, they put on a square wire and I don't think I ate for about three days afterwards. So much pain!

Jake & Mercedes {engagement}

I did a very last-minute shoot with these two love birds a little over a week ago. They happened to be in town visiting family and wanted to get a shoot done ASAP. They were hilarious and we had a great time down by the river.

She's Movin' On Up

Kendall is officially in a big girl bed! We sold the crib/toddler bed and I took Kendall to the store to pick out her own bedding. Of course, Minnie Mouse was the choice. It's far too much pink for my taste, but hey, I can't turn the girl down.

The Raney/Ward Boys {family}

I have been doing shoots with these boys, and their parents, since before they were born. I used to go to school with their mom and Eric used to work with their dad out at the prison. We do pictures pretty much annually. These boys are always tough because they want nothing to do with the camera. I'm lucky to get them to even look. It's a challenge, but they are cute and fun. Here are some from their latest pictures:

Amy, Peter, and {FAMILY}

Amy contacted me a while back about a special shoot for her family. Her in-laws are native to Africa and have four sons who live here in the states.  The in-laws were here for an extended visit and they have never had professional photos taken, alone or as a family. So Amy wanted to put something together but was very hesitant because their culture just doesn't place high importance on photography. She wasn't sure how receptive the in-laws would be do dressing up and being around in the city....with a photographer.  So when we met up for the shoot, I made sure to put on my best smile and let them know that we really would have a good time. No pressure at all. They spoken broken English, but enough to know what I was wanting. I kept it very simple so that they would remain comfortable. At the end of the shoot, they were still all smiles. The mom even admitted that it was fun! I consider that a huge success!  Two of the little boys were just gorgeous - medium skin and hair, but blue eyes. So gorgeous.
