I'm Still Here

I'm still here.....I haven't forgotten about you! We've just been crazy busy and the camera hasn't been out a whole lot.
We had a sick baby......
And some birthday celebration!
With a drum.
And we supported the local college football team....who is ranked 8th in the nation, by the way.
And we laughed.
And more birthday celebration.

And we are still here.....I will be back to regular blog posts soon, promise!!

{Abby & Daysen}

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to do pictures of one of my good friends, Abby, and her son, Daysen. Daysen certainly made me work for my shots!! But in the end, we had a great time roaming the park, watching ducks, and taking pictures. Here is a sample.

Oregon Coast: Day 4

Day 4 at the Oregon Coast didn't really consist of much other than driving home. But we made a couple stops on the drive home - Multnomah Falls and Bonneville Dam. Both were pretty cool. I have decided that all of the pictures of Multnomah Falls (at least the professional ones) are not possible. I tried to recreate a picture that my parents have hanging in their living room and it just can't happen. There is no physically possible way to pull off the shot, unless you climb one of the trees. And maybe that's what people did. But the day we were there, it was pouring rain and there were hundreds of people. It was very hard to compose a decent shot - but here is what I got.

Then we made our way over to Bonneville Dam, and learned about the tons of fish they have there. We weren't allowed to actually go up on the dam....which was really disappointing.

This sturgeon was massive....over 10 feet long and 70+ years old. I guess they can live to be up to 150 years old.

They had a bunch of salmon and steelhead in together, and they were jumping like crazy!

And that's the end of our vacation. It was a short trip and we packed a lot in to the time we had. It was really a great time and I can't wait for next year's family trip!

Oregon Coast: Day 3

Day 3 at the Oregon Coast was mostly spent with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. We explored some lighthouses and the seas were extremely rough! The waves were definitely crashing, which made for some excellent pictures. I also have a series which I will be doing a storyboard for.....even though I didn't particularly care for those when I learned how to do them.
The bridge down at the pier/marina. I'm in love with this picture and I'm going to marry it.

One of the lighthouses we visited.....we were able to go inside this one.

Old piano.

And probably an even older stove.

We had a different view of the bridge when we were leaving the lighthouse.

Then we went to the Yaquina Lighthouse.....the inside was closed off for the day, but we had fun taking pictures of the outside. The waves were really crashing here.

When we were done with the lighthouses, the boys were still out crabbing, so we decided to have a mini-girls' night, and Ashley prepared her famous bean burritos. They were absolutely delish!

Then Ashley and I headed out to meet up with our lovers at the Devil's Punch Bowl to watch the sun set. It was magical!

Stayed tuned for the last day of the Oregon Coast vacation!

Movie Review: Duplicity

This movie was not nearly as good as I thought it was going to be - which is quite disappointing considering how excited I was to see it. I guess it was ok - I'm glad we got it via Netflix instead of paying an arm and a leg to see it in the theather.

Oregon Coast: Day 2

So our second day of the Oregon Coast vacation was actually our one year anniversary. So we decided to spend most of the day as a couple, taking in the sights, walking hand in hand to all the shops in Newport and Depoe Bay. It was such a fun day, and we spent so much time laughing! Here are some of my pictures from the day.

The sea lions in Newport.

We met up with Eric's family for a fabulous lunch on the pier in Newport. Here is Ashley enjoying a steaming hot bowl of clam chowder.

Then we went off and explored more beaches together.

And someone offered to take our picture! I am so thrilled when people do that (even with the spendy camera) because then I don't have to find some even surface to set the timer.

A picture of Otter Crest - our old stompin' grounds. This is where we used to stay when we came to the coast......before the upgrade. Otter Crest is an awesome place too - with it's own beach, right down the way from The Devil's Punch Bowl.

The camera was left packed away for the rest of the evening. Eric took me to a romantic dinner in celebration of our one year anniversary and we had a fantastic time.
More from the vacation coming soon!
