Random Fact #32

I count.

I don't know if that means there is something wrong with me. But I count. Stairs. Silverware when I'm putting it away. How many notches on the volume knob on the radio. (seriously - AND as an extension of that, I have to have volume on an even number, i.e., volume 8, not 7. Or on the TV, the volume has to be on a whole number, i.e., 55, not 55.5) How many times a phone rings. All sorts of random things like that. Always have. I don't know why.

Pet Peeve

Without going into too many details (because you never know who reads these things), one of my biggest pet peeves is when new employees start making demands as if they own the place, or have been here for years. This is NOT cool and I'm ever-so-slightly peeved about it. And that's all I'm going to say about it.

The Cabin in the Woods....Part Three

Carter enjoying a cold one with his grandpa. Relax, it's empty!!

Carter at the swimming hole.
Jesse and Brittany enjoying the cool (ice cold) water.
Eric enjoying a beer and taking in the scenery.
Carter and dada.

The Cabin in the Woods....Part Two

Carter and my mom relaxing on the deck.

Carter playing with Brittany. Brittany is such a good sport about the whole thing, too. She just lays there and lets Carter crawl all over her....pulling her ears and tail, etc. It's pretty funny. But I'm glad she's a good enough dog to just lie there and take the abuse!

Carter getting his Little Swimmers on!!
This is the view of the swimming hole from higher up on the mountain. Yes, I hiked up there. No, it's not as high as it looks, lol. We have been coming to this spot for years and years. You can see Jesse dog splashing around in the little eddy. We sometimes tie off an inner-tube in that eddy so someone can just float around, cold (alcoholic) beverage in hand, without floating down the river.
This is the view across from the swimming hole. We affectionately call this our "TV" because it has many channels. Bear with me, as I'm sure you are laughing at my family. But we have experienced many channels over the years.....we have the family channel, the wholesome families that camp on this beach, the nature channel which displays the fishermen and their trials and tribulations of never catching any fish in this river, the adult channel, which displays (mostly) girls who sneak into the river with no clothes on, the foreign channel, with people who do not display English as their primary language (to which we provide our own translations), and many, many more channels throughout any given day.

The Cabin in the Woods

Meet my family's cabin. It is located in Lowman, Idaho, which is just shy of two hours out of Boise. There are two mountain highways that will bring you to the cabin; both of which are gorgeous drives. The cabin itself belongs to one of my uncles, who is generous enough to share it with his family.

The cabin has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a big living room, and kitchen downstairs. It has a master bedroom upstairs with a big bonus room. The bonus room is mainly a game room - it has a pinball machine (which is broken at the moment, unfortunately), a TV, and a pool table. The bonus room is also sleeping quarters when there are a lot of people at the cabin. There is a hide-a-bed sofa and a spare mattress in the bonus room.
Outside, there is a big deck, which has hosted many ping pong and beer pong tournaments. There is also a picnic table and set up for a hammock. :-] Many, many hours have been spent in the hammock overlooking the river. In the picture below, off to the left of the cabin, there is about 10 feet and then there is a hill that drops off down to the river. We don't actually access the river from right here at the cabin. We have found a sweet swimming hole down the road/trail. I will post pictures of that in my next post.

Here are Carter and my Dad.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Carter. Gotta love those bright, blue eyes!
