Boston - Day 3

Another day of WALKING. Holy moly. Since there was no T line that went over to the Franklin Park Zoo, we took a Lyft after the morning rain stopped. The zoo itself was pretty underwhelming, but we made the most of it. (Nothing compares to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle!) 

After the zoo, we took another Lyft to the complete opposite part of "town" for the Harvard Museum of Natural History. For some reason, I thought this would be really boring for the kids, but it was actually a really neat museum. I put the kids in charge of finding us lunch nearby, and we got to explore quite a bit of the Harvard campus. Their summer school was in session, so lots of students out and about. 

Friday night's entertainment was game two of the Red Sox / Yankees series. What an atmosphere! We did some pre-gaming and shopping, and then headed inside. There aren't many places more magical than Fenway...I had the biggest smile on my face and I loved sharing this place with the kids. Randy was not as enthused, being a die-hard Yankees fan. ;)  However, he was a good sport. We got to see Tolle pitch, and what a game he had! It was an amazing night with a big W!

Apparently we were right in line with the TV view for left-handed batters and made TV like 50 times? Who knew!!

Boston - Day 2

Day 2, we hit the pavement, literally. So much walking this day. We utilized a Boston City Pass and got to see four different attractions. On this day, we started out at the Boston Museum of Science. I remember seeing this when I went to Boston back in the early 2000's, but I didn't remember much of it. It is very hands-on, which the kids loved, and we spent a couple of hours exploring all of the exhibits.

After a couple of hours, everyone was hungry, so we took a quick Lyft over to Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall, which is by far my favorite area of Boston. I could spend hours here every day. There are so many food vendors! We spent quite a bit of time getting food and exploring the street vendors.

Carter and Randy went into Pepper Palace to do a heat challenge. Needless to say, they tried the absolute hottest sauce there was (which included signing waivers - no thank you!) and you can see from Carter's reaction that it was hotter than hot. 

Next up was the New England Aquarium. This was a cool place, and the massive turtle was definitely a highlight.

After all that walking, we did even more with the Freedom Trail. We actually ended up doing it backwards, as we were already downtown and used Faneuil Hall as our starting point. The kids were surprisingly more into this than I thought they would be - score!

The night before, we had walked by this place called Trillium, which is quite similar to the Bodo Warehouse Food Hall. It was crammed with World Cup watchers, and the indoor/outdoor vibes were pretty cool. We decided to go there for dinner, with the hopes that they would have game one of the Red Sox / Yankees 4-game series on. They did...on ONE TV. The rest were World Cup games. Regardless, the atmosphere was really cool and we had a great time choosing from the many food vendors (I told you we ate gooooooood here) and watching the game.
