For Carter's graduation trip, we landed on Boston and some games at Fenway. We packed as much as we could into the 5-day trip, walked until our legs hurt, and ate so much good food. Oh, and the Red Sox swept the Yankees in the 4-game series.....boo-ya!
First thing after leaving the airport was getting our Charlie Cards for the week for the T (subway) system. This was my biggest anxiety-causer in prepping for this trip. The first time I went to Boston, I had a friend who lived there and she took care of the navigating for us. The second time was 10 years ago, and hell if I remember the lines or maps! But I committed some research time to this and figured out our line/route for each segment of our trip. Was it without issue? No. But it sure made it easier to have a general idea of where to be and when.
After we got settled into the Air bnb, we set out on foot to find something for dinner. Right up the road from us were many restaurant options, and we landed on Mexican food....can't go wrong with that! The place we found was really authentic.
With full bellies, we decided to head over to Fenway since it was a non-game day and I knew the streets would be far less crowded. That plan definitely paid off, and we got to see the outside of the stadium from every angle, with virtually zero (baseball) crowd. We aren't followers of soccer, so we did not know that some games for the World Cup were being played on Boston...or that Boston was such a huge soccer city as well. Not surprising, but definitely caught us off-guard. The sports bars were packed and rowdy, watching the games. Boston is absolutely one of the best sports towns!
