Finish It On a High Note

There are more thoughts and feelings swirling around the decision to leave club ball than I could possibly put down on paper. To say it was a tough decision would be a gross understatement. However, at the same time, the decision was also quite simple. I'll just leave it at that. 

The girls were able to finish out their season on a high note. They competed quite well in the last two tournaments of the year. I am so incredibly proud of their growth this last year in the club ball environment. I'm excited to see what's next......

Exploring New Spots

We took a day trip recently to get out of town. Big decisions needed to be made, and that's typically best done in the clean, mountain air. We went way back in behind Arrowrock, past Twin Springs, and found a pretty sweet spot on the river to chill for the day. The kids navigated across the river quite well......it was questionable for Matt, and I had a flip-flop casualty. But other than that, it was a fantastic day!

Happy Birthday, America!

The 4th was so fun this year! We were able to snag a great empty parking lot near the Meridian Speedway that allowed us enough room to play basketball, cornhole, and frisbie while we waited for it to get dark. Once it started getting dark, we lit off a bunch of our own fireworks and watched a really good display from the Speedway. It was nice to let the cousins all hang out!

Beat the Heat

Holy smokes, has it been H*O*T!!  We caved and got passes to Ivy Wild Pool, which is down off of Broadway in Boise. It is actually a really fun pool with drop-off slides and several shady areas to hang out. With COVID restrictions still in place in Boise, they are limiting their capacity to 75%, which makes for a pretty enjoyable swimming experience! We will be spending lots of summer days here. 

River Nights

 It has been crazy, crazy hot in the Treasure Valley for the last week. Since we don't have time (yet) to escape to the mountains, we will settle for the river in town. We even got Banks out into the water, which is just short of a miracle!

June's Literary Adventures

June was hectic in ways I can't describe, so it was nice to escape for a few book adventures.

I explored a couple of new-to-me authors, and was pleasantly surprised. Fighting Absolution was a genre I don't typically read (military), but it turned out to be a really good book. Karen Dionne is one heck of an author that has written some really messed up, but in a really gripping way, books. The Wicked Sister was definitely a page-turner. Chevy Stevens is an author I have never read, and Never Let You Go was a great domestic thriller. While I have grown to really like Helen Phifer, it seems like most of her detective books (she has several series going at the moment) are starting to all be very similar, just plug and play a different female lead detective. I'll stick with her for sure, just wish she would come up with something new.
