Happy Haunting!

Halloween was such a hoot this year! The softball team got together for a really fun party that included food, games, competitions, and so many laughs! It was really fun to see them bonding off the field. 

We also did our own pumpkin carving (the kids did their own!) and then had a really good time trick or treating. While there wasn't the usual big crowds of people, there were still lots of families participating.....mostly via the sit in the driveway with a firepit option, which is personally my favorite way of doing it. The kids had a great time and the weather was amazing!  Here's a completely random selection of it all!

Flag Football - COVID edition

Carter had a really interesting fall flag season. His coach was coaching two teams, so the practice times and quality seemed to leave a bit to be desired. However, towards the end of the season, he and his son were quarantined due to COVID in their family, so Matt took over the coaching. The boys ended up making it to the championship game! Second place was pretty darn good considering how they started the season!  Carter played QB the majority of the time, and really did a great job. Definitely proud of him!

Softball Season Comes to a Close

The first three months with this team have been pretty amazing. They have already grown so much, individually as players, and together as a team. It's really exciting to think of where they will be in a year from now!  While they didn't get all of the wins they wanted, we had many discussions about how to measure success in more than just wins or losses. They are starting to really understand the analytical part of the game, which is huge! Can't wait to see what the spring/summer season brings for these ladies.

October's Literary Adventures

October brought some great books!  I started with a new-to-me author (Harvey) and it was just a so-so read. Definitely not my usual genre. But things absolutely amped up from there, ending with a powerhouse of a book from Karin Slaughter. Her GBI series is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

September's Literary Adventures

September brought some pretty good reads. The Perfect Wife was definitely a little sci-fi, which is not my normal genre, and absolutely had some great twists. Looking back, a huge chunk of the book could have been entirely avoided, but I guess that was the author's call to make. The women's murder club series has run its course for me, which is a bummer because I love James Patterson. However, his Alex Cross series is still going strong!
