Movie Review: The International

I don't really know what to say about this movie. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. It was just one of those movies that was just there. I wasn't impressed. I'm not a fan of Clive Owen. This movie just didn't do much for me. I was lost in the plot for a little while. Overall, I would give it 1.5 stars. Nothing spectacular. I wouldn't miss it if I hadn't seen it.

A Day at the Beach

We decided that we needed to get out of the house today. We had been out all weekend, and didn't want to spend our Sunday inside. So we thought of cheap places to go. It was either Lucky Peak or Eagle Island. Since we live closer to Eagle Island, we took off on our adventure.
And so did several thousand other people. It was PACKED! We decided to just hit the beach - we weren't interested in the water slide today.
We did some boating last year, so I knew Carter was fine with beaches......but he's older now, so I just set him down and let him explore on his own.

Fortunately, the beach at Eagle Island has a relaly gentle slope, so he was able to walk out quite far on his own.
Up to his arm pits, anyway!
And then we decided to stick him in his little floater. He loved that. He was able to peeter around, checking out the babes on the sly.

And in the middle of all our fun was a freak rain storm. It poured!! It was crazy! It definitely fired up all the people - it was fun to watch everyone cheering at the rain.

But once the clouds passed over, we were right back in the water.

How cute is this child!!!???

This is what summer is allll about. I'm sure we will come back several more times throughout the summer. We just had a blast!

I'm so glad my child is a water baby - makes my life soooo much easier! There were several kids there who were being dragged against their will in to swim with their parents. I felt so bad!!

Chillin' on his own.

Rolling in the shallow water.
Having a laugh with Daddy.

Gotta love my guys!

{side note: anorexic girls look RIDICULOUS with fake boobs}

Independence Day!

We decided to have another small celebration for the 4th. It's easier for us, and easier to deal with Carter. So we just had a couple friends over, and my parents stopped by for a little bit, too. We kept the menu simple: hot dogs, brats, chips and dip, and potato salad. And alcohol.

The BBQ......I'm so glad our patio sits in the shade in the evenings. Makes for *slightly* cooler weather.

Look at my child! Can he be any more of a ladies' man?! Good lord!

After the BBQ, my parents left and we started the show. Carter really ooooh'd and aaahhhhh'd at the smoke bombs. Probably because they weren't loud!

And he got to hold his own sparklers this year. He did great! He was waving them all over the place.....but still pretty cautious. I think he's still getting the hang of this firework business.

Quite focused.

And he was quite the helper! He was always running down with Eric or my brother when they were lighting the fuses.

And eventually, he wanted to come sit with mama.

There was quite a bit of activity in our neighborhood. There were definitely lots of illegals going off - I wish I had bought some. Next year, I definitely will.

Some of the neighbors' shows.

Carter was up sooooo late. But every time I would ask him if he was ready for bed, he would tell me "noooooo".

Even though he was clearly hanging on by a thread.
And the moon put on quite a show, too!
