The brushing adventure continues....

The guest bathroom has pretty much been designated as Carter's bathroom. Granted, I haven't full blown decorated it with a monkey shower curtain (there is a bathroom set at Target I have had my eyes on), but all his bath stuff and toothbrush/holder are permanent fixtures. Unfortunately, we don't have a stepladder tall enough to get Carter up to the mirror....so he gets to stand on the counter in the meantime. Not exactly the safest option, but we are both always in there with him....one supervising, one taking pictures. Nonetheless, there is adult supervision at all times.

Carter really enjoys brushing his teeth (for now). I'm sure this will change in a year or so when he realizes that brushing isn't fun anymore. It's a chore. But a part of life, nonetheless.

For now? He embraces it. Personally, I think he's just too enamored with that little boy in the mirror who comes out to play every night when it's time to brush. Hey, whatever gets it done, right?

Carter is now obsessed with re-wetting his toothbrush 38 times during one brushing session. As long as it keeps him brushing those pearly whites, I'm fine with it.

What HE isn't fine with is when brushing time is over and the toothbrush gets put away out of reach. Let me tell ya, he is NOT ok with that. Very uncool, mom.

Project of Looooove

So I may have started a tad early with the Valentine's Day stuff. However, in my defense, the supplies and candy I needed was on sale at good 'ole Wally World, and I had the extra money. The plan made sense to me! Last year, I did the boring card with candy conversation hearts for all the kids at Carter's daycare. This year, I decided to do something a little more original and creative.

So, I bought several different kinds of candy and these cute candy bags, with shiny, silver twisty-ties.

And, being the ever-organized person that I am, I lined up all the bags and distributed the candy equally.

Then, I wrote the kids' names on their respective bags and added the twisty-ties. And I'm all set to go!

And yes, there was extra candy........so I dumped it in the dish on the kitchen table. The best ones are the hershey kisses that have chocolate on the outside and a cherry filling. To die for!! And the bag was only $1 - score!

Someone has decided he's quite fond of the camera.

And he even finds his own props to accompany him to the photo shoots.

He is still quite amateur, but I have a feeling that next week, he'll be walking onto the set demanding a full buffet of snacks and only the best bottled water......in a sippy cup, of course.

Movie Review: Eagle Eye

I really wasn't expecting much out of this movie. Maybe because I don't think Shia LaBeouf is a stellar actor. But I was definitely impressed!! It turned out to be a great movie and I was pleasantly surprised. I definitely recommend this one - full of action and a great ending.

An Evening in the Snow

Saturday was our friend, Nicole's birthday. Her choice? Tubing up at Bogun Basin (the ski resort 16 miles straight up the mountain from Boise). Neither Nicole nor I had ever been to Bogus before, so this was going to be an adventure!!

We caught up to some pretty cool fog and a great sunset. (Please note, I didn't bring the "good" camera because I was scared of crashing in the snow and breaking it. So the little Kodak came along as backup!)

I still don't know how Rob managed this shot by just holding his arm out. I thought for sure he was going to cut me out and I insisted that we set the timer. But HE insisted that he knew what he was doing. I guess he knew what he was doing. I love this picture!

Waiting in line at the bottom of the tubing hill. It was fantastic!! Such a rush - I definitely want to go again and it's safe enough that I would take Carter.

Afterwards, we went out to a bar to celebrate Nicole's birthday. It was a great night!

Time to Swim!

Now that we have a gym membership, we are able to participate in family swim time at the gym. We have decided that Friday nights will now be OUR family swim time.

Carter spent quite a bit of time in the kiddie pool and big pool last summer, so I was hoping he would open right up to this pool.

However, that was NOT the case. He screamed bloody murder. People were looking at us funny. And we were trying to decide if we should just leave and try another day, or work him into it.

We decided to stay and work him into it.

So, mama put the camera down and walked him out into the water. There was a rope to block off the lap lane, so I let him play with the rope for a minute and that seemed to distract him from the horrors of the water.

And soon, the crying and whimpering stopped.....and he started to have a good time. The water felt great - luke warm for the most part.

Before we knew it, someone was back to his old water-lovin' self, and was jumping off the edge into the water.

However, after 30 minutes or so, his hands and arms started turning a purplish color, so we decided it was time to head to the hot tub to warm up.

He really liked the hot tub - I'm sure it reminded him of bath time!! And there were several other little kids in there, so he had a good time.

And when it was time to go, he pulled an impromptu game of peek-a-boo.

Overall, I think the night was a success. We're definitely looking forward to next week.
