This season has been quite the struggle for Carter. His coach is .... well, he sucks. There's no other way around it. There isn't a lot of player development going on, or coaching, or much of anything that we can see. Carter is navigating his way through that, teammate drama, and general frustration. But, we are there supporting him at every game, and watching him continue to grow as an athlete. I'm not sure if he'll continue on with basketball, though my hope is yes. I am hopeful that the high school level, no matter which team he plays on, will bring a massive step up in coaching. Fingers crossed!

Meet Indy!
Well, we are now a 2-dog household. We were not even remotely actively seeking out a second dog to add to our family. I guess this is the problem with following West Valley Human Society (where we rescued Banks). They have posts all the time about their furry friends available for adoption. And typically, I just scroll on through, thinking "oh, that's a cute dog". Typically. Something about Indy caught my eye though. Likely her ears! Her ears are just the best! So we submitted an application quickly as I knew a German Shepherd was likely to go fast. Sure enough, we were front of the line and the rest is history.

January's Literary Adventures
2022 brings a new reading goal - 2021 was 55 so I upped to 60 for this year. Game on!
January started off strong - Someone Else's Ocean was a fantastic read, as was My Husband's Daughter. Eyeshot was a thriller for sure, as all of Adams' books have been. Lost Cities Ancient Tombs was a book I got for Christmas - definitely outside my usual genre, but a fantastic historical read! The Night She Disappeared was just so-so. I completely gave up on The Replacement Wife - what a hot mess! The Cipher was a new-to-me author that I took a chance on based on my Prime Reading recommendations. It was a great read, and I was excited to see it's part of an ongoing series that I will absolutely continue. Alafair Burke's Find Me was also just so-so for me. Nothing spectacular, but just exiting enough to keep me engaged.

Hoops!
Both Carter and Kendall are in full swing with basketball right now. Carter made the B team for 8th grade ball at his school, and Kendall is playing 5th grade Y-ball. Both are doing really well, though this is by far the most intense season Carter has had as far as practices, conditioning, and expectations. It's good for him!
