Spring Break

Well spring break 2017 sure has been busy!

We kicked it off with the Eric Church concert, which was incredible, as his shows always are. We rocked, and rocked some more, and I have the blisters on my feet to show for it! What a night!

We have also had some lazy, quiet mornings snuggled up in bed.

And while Carter had a marathon Madden gaming afternoon, Kendall got to watch E.T. for the first time. She loved it!

We also had a playdate with friends from our old neighborhood. These four goofballs always crack me up.

We also did quite a bit of yard work in the back yard. The previous owners had some strange attempt at a garden on the west side of our house, which was left a total mess. So we cleared that out, leveled out the ground, and put down a bunch of grass seed. We also cleared out the flower beds of whatever strange plants they had planted, and made it all brand new with new perennials and bark. Now we have to tackle the front yard!

Saturday morning, I may have been nursing a wicked hangover from the concert, and may have needed a little cat nap while the kids played. ;)  Well, the doorbell rang and before I could drag myself downstairs, Kendall opened the door, accepted a package (which happened to be one of her birthday presents), opened up said package, and showed me....."look what the mail man brought me!" Good lord, child. Happy early birthday!

There have also been many baseball practice sessions in the backyard and at the field. I think Carter hates me for not letting him just play video games every minute of his break. ;)  No rest for the wicked, son.

First Game of the Season

Well, we couldn't have asked for better weather for the first game, but that's about the only good thing about it. We played at Fuller, and the kids HATE playing at Fuller because the field are garbage. Good thing there are only a handful of games there this season. Overall, it was not a good game. We were out-played, bottom line. The other team was far more aggressive than we were, and the end result reflected such. Carter didn't do all that hot in the field or up at bat. BUT all of the kids had smiles on their faces, so that counts for something. :)

(eyes closed, buddy)

And his biggest fan, who was "frozen" the entire game....trust me, I heard about it every 18 seconds. ;) Next time, a blanket and portable heater kiddo.

Shoshone Falls

Sunday morning, I was itching for a day-trip. I have been seeing all over FB that Shoshone Falls is absolutely crazy this spring, so we loaded up the car and hit the road!  It was a fun drive, but once we got there, the line was absolutely insane. I think everyone from a three-state radius was there to see the falls.

Kendall's First Pedicure

This weekend, I took Kendall for her very first pedicure. She has been asking me for about a year now, and I finally decided she was old enough (and patient enough) to sit through a pedi. She had a blast!

It's Baseball Time!

Even though we have been practicing for a while now, yesterday formally kicked off the best season of the year - baseball! Carter had tryouts first thing in the morning and we (thankfully) had good weather. He did amazing in his tryouts and we can't wait for the season to get started.

After practice, we met up with Dana, Veronica, and the boys for a family baseball practice. It was a lot of fun working with the kids, and then once they lost interest, we had our own little practice. Sure felt nice to take some grounders again!

Let's play, guys!

And then, as if our day wasn't busy enough, we met back up for some fun at Chuck E Cheese! The kids had a great time, and we certainly loaded up on tickets for prizes. Definitely a great day!

There is a god

Why does this picture make me happy? Because it's Kendall sitting in the dentist chair about to get a filling for a cavity. No meltdown whatsoever.

Which is a stark contrast to what we dealt with when Carter had to have fillings. Granted, Carter's were much worse and required far more work, but we literally had to bounce to three different dentists (all highly recommended) because Carter would NOT let anyone do the work. Bawling meltdown. No form of bribery worked on that child.

So the experience with Kendall, though far less severe, is SUCH a breath of fresh air!  We have the cool/calm/collected to balance out the panicked brother. Yay!

Swimming Lessons

Even though we are in the middle of gymnastics for Kendall, I still wanted to cram in another round of swimming lessons before baseball season hits.  We are a couple sessions in for Kendall, and I have lost track how many sessions Carter has had. This will most likely be his last because he is becoming a strong swimmer.

Carter got to try some basic diving from the side of the pool the other night. He was pretty nervous about it at first, but ended up having quite a bit of fun with it.
