Y-Ball - Game 1

Here we are, starting another sport! Basketball has long been a favorite of Carter's, and since I won't let him do football or soccer, it only makes sense that he had this to the sports resume' along with baseball.  His first practice was last week, and his first game was this weekend. He had an absolute blast, and scored 8 of the team's 26 points.

Mitch {senior}

Mitch was part of a family shoot I did a while back, and his mother contacted me to do his senior pictures a couple weeks ago. He's very much into baseball - in fact, he provided me with score updates of a Red Sox game (we are both big fans) throughout our shoot. While the shoot wasn't during the most ideal times of day for lighting purposes, we made due and came out with some great shots.

The Headboard Project

Another Pinterest project was completed this weekend. This was also one I had picked out a long time ago, and it took quite some time to bring it all together. First I had to find the 5-panel door I wanted, which was a project all in itself. I ended up finding it at the Habitat For Humanity Re-Store. It was definitely more than I had anticipated paying, so I asked the guy at the store why it was so much more than 90% of the doors in the store. First of all, it was from the 1950s, he explained, and a whole different building generation. Second, "craft women like you pay for it."  Fair enough, and thanks for the honesty! Sheesh! Once I had the door home, I set to work on sanding it down. I knew it was going to have one of the same colors of milk paint that was on the plank wall, so that part was easy.

Then the project came to a dead stop because I was stumped by the crown molding aspect. The tutorial wasn't super clear on adding the molding, and construction isn't exactly my thing. I picked the brains of a few people, and ended up at Lowe's with my parents to pick out a nice, decorative piece. Once I got that painted, I glued it to the top of the door and clamped it overnight to secure the adhesion process. Yesterday was the install day. Instead of doing some 2x4's to brace the bottom, we mounted the door straight into the studs in the wall. Another project that turned out just how I envisioned - yes!

BSU v. BYU

This was an intense game, to say the least! I had the marketing/promotions guy down with me for quite a bit of the first half, so we got a lot of the shots he wanted to take. I still managed to get in a lot of the game shots, too.

BSU v. Colorado State

Oh cold, rainy Saturday.......how fun and miserable you were, all at the same time. We knew there was a chance of rain, but the forecast kept going back and forth on rain/no rain, and ultimately we gambled WRONG. I bought great BSU rain ponchos and we ended up leaving them in the car because it was gorgeous when we arrived for all the pre-game promotional photography. And then it drizzled in the first quarter, and downright poured in the second quarter. We called it quits at halftime because my gear was simply getting too wet. :(  At least we got to watch the {much better} second half in the warmth of my parents' home. I'll spare you the pre-game promotional stuff and just get to the game shots.
