The Happiest Place on Earth - A Grand Adventure pt. 1

Last summer, my parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.  Dana and I attempted to throw a big celebration because it is a pretty big deal!  My parents sat us down during the beginning stages of the planning process and said "we'd really like to do something different, what do you think of this....?"  And they asked if we could do a family trip to Disneyland.  This was initially met with some confusion...what the heck does this have to do with YOUR anniversary?, etc.  Ultimately, we said 'if this is something you guys really want to do for the family, we'll obviously be there."  And that's exactly what we did.  The eight of us planned a grand adventure to the Happiest Place on Earth.  Mom took the lead on the travel arrangements, and I took over for the park planning.  I think we made a pretty good team!  We spent three days at Disney - two in Disneyland and one in California Adventure (right next door).  It was a good balance between the two parks, and the weather, aside from one misty morning, was amazing.

The first day, we tackled one half of Disneyland.  The morning came with a very light mist, which quickly went away and opened up to a sunny, warm-ish day.  The lines were manageable...nothing over-the-top, and we were able to monitor the wait times via the Disney App.  Due to lingering Covid restrictions, or possibly cost saving measures or staffing shortages, there weren't many characters walking around, and no parades.  We spent a good chunk of the day in the park and then went back to our house and spent the remainder of the time swimming, playing pool, ping pong, etc.
