Quite a while back, Randy and I entered to win a "free" dream vacation getaway at a dinner auction for the GTS softball team. The tickets were $100 each, but I noticed that the basket didn't have very many tickets in it so I figured "why not"? Well, we won. This "free" dream vacation has been the biggest pain in my ass to book, but we finally made it happen. It was, of course, a timeshare and those are their own unique nightmares. We figured getting it as "free" as possible (95% of the properties listed worldwide were all-inclusive resorts that came with fees on top of fees...and we don't like doing resorts anyway), we would have to do something on the coast. We first attempted Seaside, Oregon, because Randy is from Oregon and we wanted to explore there. It was sold out. So I expanded the search and we landed on Long Beach, Washington, which isn't that far from Seaside anyway. Plus, who doesn't love a good road trip? Carter brough along his buddy, Keynan, and we really had a great time.
We left early in the morning, stopped at Multnomah Falls, and hit Long Beach around 4pm, right at check-in time. We successfully snuck in the kids because I didn't want to pay their per person/per day fee - hello, FREE vacation? We landed an amazing unit, ocean view, and right on the beach. It is a gorgeous, sleepy little beach town.
